Pieces Monthly Recap | March 2024

Hey Devs,

Welcome to our 2nd issue of The Pieces Post 😁

Our inaugural issue was a hit, and since then we’ve been able to gain over 30,000 amazing subscribers!

As a rapidly evolving startup, we're always on the move with new updates, and we're buzzing with excitement to share some of our latest releases and announcements with you.

TL;DR: What's New This Month?

  1. Visual Studio IDE Extension: You asked, and we delivered. Following the success of our VS Code extension with over 61,000 downloads, we've expanded our reach to Visual Studio, one of the most widely used IDEs. This initial release focuses on AI assistance, integrating the full capabilities of the Pieces Copilot into your development workflow. Try it out for yourself.

  2. Backup & Restore Feature: This new feature simplifies backing up your Pieces materials and conversations to the cloud and restoring them on any device, akin to a git push & fetch system. Initially available on the Pieces For Developers desktop application, you’ll now be able to resume your workflow on a different computer. Backup your Pieces database.

  3. New Captured Context View: Auto-enrichment of your saved materials via our fine-tuned edge-ML models has been a huge benefit to developers looking to stay organized and move quicker throughout their workflow. With the Captured Context View in the Pieces Desktop App, users can now keep better track of their context & metadata, and find what they need to develop faster.

  4. Updated Documentation: We've completely overhauled our Documentation site, making it incredibly user-friendly and easy to navigate. Check out the new look.

  5. Twitter Spaces: Our weekly Twitter Spaces have been a massive success, with many of you joining us for engaging discussions. This week, we discussed the challenges and advantages of Cloud vs Local LLMs. Follow us on Twitter to catch the next one!

  6. Beta Testing: We’ve opened up applications for our Beta Testing community, an exclusive group of users who will have early access to our upcoming feature, the Workstream Pattern Engine. Interested in playing a pivotal role in our product development? Apply to be a Beta Tester here.

  7. Share Your Story: We want to champion our users and share the amazing work they accomplish using our tools. Whether you’re building with our SDKs or just like to use one of our plugins to make your workflow more productive, we’d love to hear from you! Please reach out to us here to be featured in our community.
